Easy Spaghetti and Rolls

My hubby’s favorite dish is … spaghetti. It was originally a surprise to me, but that’s what he likes, so it makes my life easier when I’m short on time for cooking dinner. This easy standby dish can be made in a snap, and I like to serve it with warm bread and a fresh salad. When I made this dish, I didn’t have the energy to make biscuits or homemade rolls, so I improvised. What I used instead may surprise you.

Recipe type: Dinner
Cuisine: Italian
Serves: 4
Ingredients
  • 1 8-ounce box of spaghetti
  • 1-1.5 pound of ground beef or meat of your choice (ground turkey is a good substitution)
  • 24 ounce jar of spaghetti sauce (I like the chunky mushroom version)
  • Garlic
  • Pepper
  • Mrs. Dash table blend seasoning
  • 2-4 hamburger buns
  • Butter
Instructions
  1. Bring 3 quarts of water to a boil in a big pot.
  2. Break spaghetti in half, if desired, and place in pot, cooking for 8-10 minutes.
  3. While spaghetti is cooking, brown ground beef in a large pan, seasoning to taste with garlic, pepper and Mrs. Dash.
  4. Once spaghetti is done, drain and set aside.
  5. Once meat is done, scoop meat in a strainer to remove oil and dump any loose oil in pan into sink.
  6. Return drained meat to pan and add drained spaghetti.
  7. Add spaghetti sauce. Stir and cover pan, simmering on medium low for 5 minutes.
  8. With a bread knife, cut hamburger buns lengthwise in half, then slice each of the halves so the insides are face up.
  9. Butter each slice an place in a large pan in oven for a few minutes until heated.
  10. Before serving rolls, sprinkle with parsley and garlic powder if desired.
